When it comes to finding inspiration on Pinterest, artists are usually segregated between two opposing views - those who believe it is helpful and those who see it as potentially dangerous. The latter are afraid of an excess of copying and lack of originality. However, artists - like me - who see it as helpful, find that scrolling through the plethora of pictures stimulates one's creativity unlike any other resource.
Above, are some of the pictures that are currently inspiring me. I Pin all of these to my boards on Pinterest, and use the website regularly to explore and expand my imagination. I think it's a great resource for artists, as long as they only use the photos to inspire an original creation. This can sometimes be tricky for some artists, but I recommend taking elements of several pictures you like, and combining certain elements into one creation - almost like a mental collage. For example, I could take the glitter in the shoes, the colors of the girl's glove and the ice cream, the balloons and the flowers to create an original design that is unique to me even though it was inspired by aspects of the above mood board.Experimenting with mood boards (an arrangement of images, materials, pieces of text, etc., intended to evoke or project a particular style or concept) is one of my favorite things to do! That's probably why I like Pinterest so much - because it's a virtual mood board that can continually evolve. Below are links to the pics.
